Subjects

This section of Exploring English describes English subjects.

The subject is a word or group of words about which something is stated in a sentence. The statement is referred to as the predicate.

The subjects are highlighted in the following sentences:

Indiana Jones cowered before the harmless garter snake.

Gretzky shot the puck into the net.

The butterfly fluttered her splendid wings.
