That / Which

This section of Exploring English describes usage of the English words 'that' and 'which'.

That is a restrictive, or defining pronoun:

The cab that hit me drove away.

Which is a nonrestrictive, nondefining pronoun:

The cab, which happened to be yellow, drove away.
