El Morro National Monument, also known as Inscription Rock is located on US 53 in western New Mexico. There is a stunning sandstone bluff, with a pool of water that provided drinking water for people for many hundreds of years. More information is available at http://www.nps.gov/elmo/

Natives began putting pictographs on the stone walls near the pool over a thousand years ago. Spanish, American, and other travelers have also added their own inscriptions to the stone. The top of the bluff has the remains of a settlement dated twelve hundred years old. The video show the pool, inscriptions, vegetation, and inspiring view as I climb around and up the monument. |
