A brilliant philosophical novel that takes the reader on a fascinating journey across America, through the high country of philosophy, towards Self and Quality.

Many years ago a Philosophy 101 instructor gave us Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance to read over the term. We never did discuss the book in class, but I am beginning to appreciate the profound influence the writing has had on my life. There is so much in the novel that it is difficult to summarize. Robert Pirsig shares an incredible journey full of personal observations on life and philospohy, of the philosophy of Science, of psychological crisis, of differences between Eastern and Western thought, and of struggling towards an understanding of Quality. Perhaps what keeps me coming back to this book and its sequel, Lila: An Inquiry into Morals, is the journey or process of examining ideas and values on a personal level. Book,Kindle reviewed by
